Mott MacDonald is an employee-owned engineering, management and development consultancy, with more than 20,000 people in over 50 countries. It plans, designs, delivers and maintains the transport, energy, water, defence and security, and buildings infrastructure that is integral to people’s daily lives. Its core strength is using its expertise to overcome complex challenges for the benefit of its clients and the communities they serve.
Customer Challenges
Training people in very specific, hard to reach or contained environments in real life situations can be challenging, expensive and sometimes dangerous. Having the ability to walk colleagues through scenarios, seeing what they see and giving real time feedback and advice on how to approach complex engineering tasks, and sharing that knowledge easily was a real hurdle to overcome for the business.
What AVM did
Installing VR Headsets, that are allowing users to access 3D models in a virtual environment, which training staff can give real time comments and notes based on the mirrored content on the interactive screen in the hub.
Since the site is secure, no wireless technology is allowed. So cable management was vital to the usability of the space.
Customer Feedback
“Working with AVM was a really good experience from start to finish. Right through from the discovery sessions, building the scope out, selection of the correct hardware, making sure everything is working all the way up to the installation stage. Everything was done in a professional and timely manner”
– Kyle McLaughlan, Senior Digital Visualisation Specialist
